Hey QP, I haven't read your whole route, but will volunteer to bring you a food drop if needed, could do it near Prairie Portage area or LaCroix/Iron Lake area. Let me know, my dates are usually open to suit your schedule. IC

Thanks IC I'll surely do that, I hope to get back at this trip planning soon. Just as soon as I get the 2005 trip report finished. Getting close might just get it posted today qp

QP, Just catching up w/your plans for next year.... YES!! Re: Day 8... do NOT leave the portage trail at the little creek bi-secting the 2.5 miler! It can be VERY alluring in high water when you think about how nice & easy it would be to "float" the rest of the way into Cache. Trust me... you would set your whole schedule BACKWARDS a couple days IF you went that way!! BTW, my brother & I really liked the island campsite, lower mid-lake, opposite where the Cache River starts its route down to Kawnipi. We had big-time wildlife experiences along THAT stretch of the Cache in May '96. What a trip you have planned! Jimbo

I know it's been a few days since I've worked on this, and I'm already finding changes I'm making. But I'll continue on with the planned route then I'll post a few changes I'm considering after I get the complete 30 days worth in.
Day 12 Today is a planned re-supply day. I'm hoping this works out with a friend of mine which I've already talked about doing this. After the re-supply I'm planning on a fishing day today with my friends. Fishing Saganagons Lake and maybe a side trip into those small lakes just east of the Dead Man Portage. I'll return to my camp and pack things down mostly in the evening as it's going to be a very long day tomorrow. qp

Today I plan on moving thru the Falls Chain as quickly as I can. The reason is I've been thru this area several times and I'm sure I'll be ready to cover new ground/water again. After reaching Kawnipi Lake if the wind isn't to bad I'll paddle on across and portage into Montgomery Lake. As I'm sure it will be late in the day reaching Montgomery Lake I'll set up camp and rest this evening. In the morning I'll slide by the Indian Paintings on this lake then on up Montgomery Creek to see the other set of paintings.
Todays Travels 5 lakes/river 8 portages total rods today 487
Totals to date 62 Lake/Rivers 74 portages total rods 8377rods qp

qp, just catching up on your plans. A couple of thoughts. 1) you could begin at either French L or Nym L and leave your car without worry. Cheaper as dd noted. 2) resupply may be easier to arrange from southern entry points as they are more heavily used. LLC could also be a point of resupply with a drop at Black Robe or Bottle.

Interesting point Old Salt. But I'll likely start at PP just to save driving time. That extra 5 hours in 2004 was a lot to add to the already 18 plus hours driving. I do like the idea of a drop at Black Robe though. Now that winter is in the air maybe I'll pick back up on this planned trip. qp

That's fine if you can arrange for others to arrange their schedules to fit yours. My experience has been that folks tend to be inflexible regarding anything that may cut into their time in the Q.
