"The Voyageurettes, Their Tales & Legends," by Rebecca Barry & Susan Engebretson
We’ve all heard of the Voyageurs, those short, stocky Frenchmen whose monumental feats included carrying two 90 lb packs of furs across the same primitive trails we each traverse on our canoe trips. The tales of the legendary Voyageurettes, however, has never been told—until now. For a real treat, curl up in your easy chair with a copy of this very funny book.
I’m not going to elaborate too much on this delightful collection of stories as told by the counterparts of those historical fur traders. It would be hard to do it justice, save to say that this “groupe de femmes unique” share some mighty fine tales of their romps along the border route. Their motto is “work hard, paddle hard, lie hard, shop hard, and don’t eat dogs.” The stories may exaggerated or true; you’ll have to decide that for yourself.

Heard I should have gotten my hands on one of these books at Copia (hoping to prepare for my own maiden voyage in Sept) - anyone have an idea where a gal could get ahold of the lady at the dinner that Saturday night?

Sue Marie sometimes "hangs out" at the CCBB board, try posting there.
Sue made me an official "Marie" and gave me an official "Marie" baseball cap! ;D
Bear Dancing Woman also got one!
There is a volume 2 Voyageurettes in the making.
