It's the momments like these which keeps us all returning to the woods. My most rewarding momment in the Northwoods.
Quietly thinking to myself. I recall a letter I read from a hidden Quetico Cache. An eight year old girl who was on her 30th trip to Quetico. That has to be the most out standing moment in all of my Quetico Trips. Whats Yours? qp

Mine was the year my son Michael and I went in May (2003) to Weasel Lake PMA south of numbered lakes and we sat out in the canoe at about 11:00 watching the full eclipse of the moon under absolutelly cloudless skies and he told me how much he was enjoying our trip and time together. I have never seen him smile so much and I don't think we have ever been closer than at that moment. It was a magic moment for sure!

June of 2001. Gimp_of_01 and his bowsman, Danl, led me (and a rookie) to a lake south of the Man Chain they had visited before without me.
It's a beautiful lake, a short portage off a well-traveled bit of water yet we were assured of being alone. We stayed there for a couple of days, catching smallies and enjoying the feel of being alone on the only campsite on the lake.
One evening after dinner, we were sitting around the fire-ring which was right at the water's edge, watching the fire die down. It was dusk. A light rain began to fall and, having anticipated the rain, we were decked out in raingear.
We sat silent for well over an hour, nobody moving, nobody talking, just sitting and watching the fire and listening to the rain in an otherwise silent forest.
It doesn't sound like much but when things get tough here in the developed world, I can go back to that time and live a bit of peace.
That is my most rewarding moment in the woods.
I got a picture of it...once I find it I will post it.
