You know, Park was 52 and Litchfield was 57 this summer when they broke the record. I figure I've got about 30 years yet to practice and beat the record.
A friend and I paddled and portaged 45 miles in about 14 1/2 hours with a canoe fully loaded with gear and food this summer. Maybe in a few years I'll make an attempt.

The best I ever did was 12 miles in 3 hours, with a girlfriend partner in a local canoe race. The professionals were out of sight in no time. We came in third overall in the novices, even ahead of several brawny men's teams. That was 20 years ago however, and we figured once was enough after that effort!
