My name is Nancy Maddock. I live in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Our gracious host has recently contacted me and has enlightened me to this great site. I'd like to let you know about a volunteer wilderness cleanup cause I've been organizing for the past 2 years. This Mother's Day weekend (to help save Mother Earth), my partner, the renowned Kevin Callan www.kevincallan.com and I are once again hosting The Great Wilderness Cleanup. The basic idea of this volunteer event is to get a group of friends, family or co-workers together, pick a place to clean up and a name for your group, and spend a weekend of great fun while doing a good deed by cleaning up the wilderness along your way. The first year I organized a cleanup event with about 65 volunteers attending at the world renowned Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario where together we took out over 125 bags of garbage. Last spring we had about 30 groups across Canada and the USA participate in this now-global event. The UK and Brazil are involved, too! **PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers will be participating at their own risks.**If your group can't make it for the main event during May 10-11, then just pick a good time for you and let me know. There will be prizes for such things as the largest group, the most garbage collected, etc. To find out more info, please contact me at wildernesscleanup@rogers.com or visit www.wildernesscleanup.comPlease help us save Mother Earth! Together we can make a REAL difference.

It looks as though there's some nice weather on the way this weekend here in Ontario, Canada - I hope it's the same for all of you! I'd like to wish all of you participating in this cleanup event a very terrific time. Let Bo Bowers know how much you pick up, what nasty and weird things are out there...cool things, too! Take lots of pics and send them to Bo with written permission if you'd like them used publicly. Tell us all your stories, too!
But the most important thing of all...
BE SAFE!!!!!
I thank you all for your kindness and caring.

In addition to telling us your stories here, I would very much appreciate it if you could all give me a quick shout at wildernesscleanup@rogers.com to give me a list of your results bag numbers, number of people, route, portage/hiking trail lengths cleaned - beaches, too, weird/large/ useable/etc. types of things you find...anything and everything you can think of.
Along with posting any photos here, please e-mail to me at the above address any you would like used publicly elsewhere (please give written permission in the e-mail).
