Thought occurred to me today..that though I love the Q, too..why bother? If you feel a need to trip more often..BDub and save a few bucks. Most folks I know that Q make it deep and far to remote parts of the Q park. With that kind of energy I would guess they could find solitude in the BDub as well, just not exactly.
18 bucks a day adds up. Might pay for ones gas.

I agree with you k on the cost and after I see all of the Q (as I started there first) I'll then turn my attention to the bdub. Could you recommened a good Yum Yum Portage in the BWCA that way I'll have a lasting memory of my first trip there. qp

A few other things I prefer about the Q over the BWCA are. 1 No fire grates! I think this give it a much more wilderness setting. Of coarse I guess I could hide the fire grate in the woods in the BW. 2 2/3 thirds less people. That means fewer people I'll meet getting into the depths of the Q. Where often I'll have a large lake all to myself. 3 Even though I cringe each year waiting on the prices to increase I think the added cost keeps the Q more remote for those like myself that enjoy the solitude. Which keeps me more on my toes to being more careful as in taking fewer risks. 4 Finally in several of my Border trips I've seen people carrying all kinds of things into the woods. Once on Knife Lake Portage I met a group of 4 two boys toting their fathers keg of beer. I don't know of an entry point in the Q which allows this. Both being rich in all their similarities. Like I stated above I'll keep heading into the Q. If cost keep going up I'll just pay it as I do at the gas pumps. qp
