Curious if anyone has been on Jeff. Looking for a good reason to adjust my S Chain route in Aug. Thanks, Jeff

Hmmmm! I say Yes! Lake Trout and walleye would be the main reasons. We came thru South and West last week and the water levers were still very high so I would GUESS that most of the creek to Jeff could be paddled. qp

Thanks for the info QP, we were going to head to N. Bay, into the S chain to Kawnipi then out thru Williams to Kashahpiwi. Since my permit is for Agnes anyway that should do it. 44 days! I'll let you know. Jeff

I have been through Jeff Lake in both high and low water conditions. The creek has always been okay to paddle, watch not to get lost on it. A good route to exit or enter Agnes on. IC

Now I'm kind of wondering which route to take to Jeff. Going to try to be 1st thru PP. IC got me thinking (getting lost after a long day). How realistic is it to get there, without having a heart attack, in time to find a site in one day? And. Which would be the most efficient route? Jeff

Don't take my comment about not getting lost too seriously, it isn't that bad...You can generally sort of see where the last canoe party was traveling. Going north the 24 rod portage going from creek into no-name and then Jeff lake is a little hard to find...yes, you have to cross that grassy mucky area which you see all trampeled down. My girlfriend and I tried going further down the creek and ended up bushwacking up the creek to the lake, not recommended. The entry to the portage is messy, but definitely faster than bushwacking. Coming south you shouldn't have any problems getting lost on the creek or finding that portage. I' ve done Agnes to PP on that route in one day, double portaging, but it took ALL DAY. The 39 rod portage from Agnes to East Lake is also kind of hard to find, just a little opening along the shoreline, goes immediately uphill (of course!). IC

The Agnes to east portage is marked wrong on most fisher maps.....it's about one bay to the South of the Fisher marking.
