I've just got our permit for the 2nd week in September. I've been on Agnes several times, but never the lakes to the west until you get to North Bay, McIntyre, and the Death March, of course. Any recommendations for the area between?
We plan to enter at Prairie Portage, to Agnes to Kawnipi then head west and back south again through Sark, Kashahpiwi back down to North Bay.
Any suggestions welcomed!

Arne Be sure to read my up coming trip report. We were on the Kahshahpiwi Chain this year. As for the Death March, I personally didn't think it was all that bad, just long. But beware those that travel with me tend to tell me they don't do portages with names any more in the Q Conmee is a great lake to fish. Camel is as well. The Cutty Creek area portages aren't that hard except for the 2 from Baird to Metacryist Lake. Sarah Lake has some awesome campsites on it. You can also avoid the Wall Portage into McIntyre Lake by taking the other portage just south of the Wall a few hundred yards. It's a little longer but much easier. McIntyre Lake is one of my favorite lakes in the Q. Some say it's the second best lake to fish in the Q. The tower on Kahshahpiwi is still there, awesome view if your up to spending a couple extra hours getting to it. Woods Walker and I camped on a very nice island site on Kahshahpiwi just as you head into the bay towards Trant Lake. If you're camping there let me know, the campsite has an excellent suprise. I'll try to get the trip report up soon. qp
