We went through the are last year. We planned on staying on Suzanette after catching several monster walleye on Conmee. The formerly nice site on the long north facing point of Suz. had lots of bad blow down so we kept trucking to Burt (2 great site on east side of main islands)- gorgeous secluded lake. After being windbound we regretted not stopping earlier at a five star in the unnamed lake/bay- just before the fork which divides the channel to Burt and south bay which has the Paulene portage. This would be an ideal spot for daytripping.
It'll be a great trip Mapmeister

Thanks Canoewilderness and Mapmeister. Canoewilderness, sorry I never responded to you before today. Burt is going to be one of our daytrip days.
From a fishing perspective is Suz as good of an option as Brent? We plan on getting to Brent on day two of our eight day trip and staying there for at least one lay over day. Brent is a large lake and I am thinking of spending more time there, however, I still want to make it to Suz. I want to make a day trip to Burt and one to Conmee as well. Does anyone have any opinions on this?
Obviously if we get to Brent and are catching fish and the area isn't too crowded, we will find it dificult to move on and Suz may become a daytrip?

Maverick I think you'll find things along this order on the fish species on those lakes. Suzanette = Laker Brent= smallies Conmee=Walleyes qp
