Hullo, just briefly checking into to say hullo from Kawishiwi Lodge. I've had a great time, this being my last warm weather trip this year, I have spent as much time focusing on the people of The North Woodsand the BWCA, as I have been focusing on the paddle.
At first I felt guilt over such a different trip as to not camping in the woods. Just Lodging it., However now that I have relaxed to a whole new rhythm, I'm good with it and sure I'll do it again.
I am fortunate to experience a taste of the outfitters life style, once again as over the years these folks at Kawishiwi have become my friends. Visiting with them and new friends has become as important to me as the paddle.
I stayed with WW and family on the way North again (thank you WW). Imet with Buckeye for Pizza with his family, on Saturday at Pizza Hut. I was asked to a campsite by an elderly man on lake one to get a tour of what he claimed to be the perfect "Frank Loydd Wright" island campsite. I saw Old Scout and Leo as the put out at the Kawishiwi Docks. And, of course, I dropped in on Lynn at VN and found her there! The trick I understand is mid-afternoon. I also saw John O'Kane and John...their son-in-law.
There were a few others in the area lurking it was rumored, that I was not lucky enough to see.
Best photo op? Well, several, but this eve I captured a large flock of geese in flight and a lucky moment of a beaver splashing the water with it's tail as I was sure to take time to paddle as well.
It has been a great trip. Sure it could have been better, but it could have been one heck of alot worse. Pardon me now, but is time to visit with friends.
