I've been busy getting lost lately. I found a new hilly forest park not to far away, and I've filled my days with hiking untill it is almost to dark to see. I had to bushwack the other night to make it back before not having enough light. I have had a need for my old ways again for awhile, off on my own...smiling and happy.
Last I snuck up on four white tail deer... I counted four rumps run but could only see two hornless heads. Three nights ago I had the same treat, and 5 days ago same thing. 4 days ago I snuck up on four wild turkies while hiking in an area I've hiked for a few years. 5 days ago saw a badger, oh and several flocks of geese. two nights ago when to dark to make out what species I saw the biggest owl I've ever seen in the wild from as close as twenty yards. Good times, and having good days.
The point is I've been hiking around with my new keen sandels, and winter is approaching. I have just about wore out my LL Bean boots and they stink in snow and on ice. I may ask about snow shoes later, but for now I'd like to ask what you guys like when it comes to boots for hiking come winter time before the snow gets too deep for anything but snowshoes or skies. If I may ask, which shoe or boot do you wear and why?

I have 2 pairs of winter boots. My Sorrel for basic running around and snow shoeing (they only go down to -25). Then I have my Lacrosse boots that go down to -120. They weigh 10lbs but are worth it!! I get very cold feet and have had frost bite on my toes before so they are very sensitive. So when I winter camp I bring both boots. The sorrel's for getting there and my lacrosse for 'camp shoes'. Now for fall hunting trips I use my insulated rockies. And for mountain hiking/climbing I use my Danners. I have a lot of different foot wear because I have learned, if your feet aren't happy you go no where fast

Do you hunt? I know a few ladies that do and all good shots.
Thank you so much for the info! I'll give the boots you mentioned consideration in my boot quest.
