Just wondering if anyone has paddled these relatively new designs for river and rapids canoe tripping. The Both are royalex models and the Bell is a 17' canoe and Cascade is a 17' 6" canoe. Comments about them? I'd take any info, thanks.

Hi TL, The Bell Alaskan is an excellent choice for river touring! The reviews here www.paddling.net/Reviews/showReviews.html?prod=626 are for the Venture 17' by Dagger, but the Bell Alaskan is the same hull. The concensus is that it's stable, holds a lot of gear, and yet turns well. Don't worry about the Dagger Venture 17' comments about manufacturing quality, because Bell, who now manufactures the boat, is known for good work.
