Just a short rave about the quality and strength of the Bending Branches brand paddles. I've used a Journey kayak paddle by them for years, and it looks it, but it has never broken, cracked, or failed in any way. We have several others, not quite as old as mine, which have also been great paddles. IC

I like Bending Branches very much. I own perhaps 3 or 4. I don't hestitate to recommend them, but for the record I have had one split on me. I don't remember which model (a straight shaft, resin tipped, 57", with palm grip). The blade split between laminates.
I repaired it with epoxy and fiberglass. It still serves me as a back up paddle, especially on rocky streams. The fiberglass & epoxy repair threw off its balance and increased its weight, so it is not a primary paddle especially on flatwater. Still, as I said, I do like them and recommend them. Just wanted to let folks know that they can fail.

I just bought two bending branches beavertails to go with my new stripper. I'm thinking of sending one back though because it has significant grain runout on the shaft. Has anyone else had a paddle like this and did it break? I presume they go through an inspection but it sure looks like trouble waiting to happen.

I've had a split on the blade after two years also.
