Anyone know what you are trading off for the different models of magic solos? The kev light is 31 pounds, the black/gold is 38 pounds and the white/gold is 42 pounds. I know the price is higher for the lighter canoes - is the strength less? Anyone know? Anyone have any opinions concerning these different offering?
I know I'm going to have to test one of these before I buy, but I'd like to know a bit about it first - How do they feel as far as initial stability? Can't stand a canoe that constantly feels like it's going over on me - even if I know it has good final stability.

What does anyone know about the Wenonah Voyager 17.5 solo?

All I know is that I secretly wanted a 17'6", but settled for a Prism instead. With the long hull the 17' 6" (17.5) is a fast boat, tracks well, with a load, but what I understand is not made for a novice, nor am I suggesting that you or I, PG, are beginers. I went for the Prism with thoughts of teaching others how to paddle and better turning capabilities in local rivers I float, as I also own a solo kayak made for similar missions some of you may know. I do enjoy my Prism. I know Old Scout owns a Bell, as we bumped into one another at Kawishiwi Lodge this September, but I'm not sure which one. The Voyager 17' 6"is a beauty of a boat. I spent some time doating over one at Copia last March, and most likely will again. www.wenonah.comk

Well, I don't think I fit in the novice catagory, but I don't care to trade everything for speed either. I don't like tippy feeling canoes. Guess I better test drive before I buy.
The Bell Magics are spendy new, and I sure don't see any used ones for sale. Just signed up for 16 extra shifts at time and a half. That should give me a little extra cash to work with, but still have to get the snowtrekker tent for this winter. Gonna cramp the holiday season a bit though.

From what I understand the V 16.5 has a tippy feel, but what do I know as I've never been fortunate enough to have a test drive. I always hear good about Bell...but I've never been in one and I'm slow to grab coat tails. I prefer to be convinced myself. Good to see you exploring the issues PG. Hate to see the ol sheep in wolves clothing again.
