A friend of mine has a popular sewing business and sent me her Christmas newsletter, some excerpts which I thought might interest you: One product I’ve enjoyed using this year is Snag-Free Velcro®. It’s unique because it sticks to itself (only one piece of tape is required, not two) and as the name states, it doesn’t catch on fabric and threads to build nests on itself! It’s great to use on fabrics like terrycloth. I featured it in a project I designed for DESIGNS IN MACHINE EMBROIDERY magazine, coming in the Jan/Feb. 2005 issue. I’m also offering a free sample with orders placed with this newsletter. I developed a new bag which can be used as a lunch bag, purse, or cosmetic bag. It’s the “Over the Top” Zipper Bag, and its shape is unusual. It’s made from 9”x12” squares of non-fray fabric and when the zipper is closed, the top of the bag takes on a curved shape. The round version looks like two halves of Madonna’s bra back to back! There’s also a coin purse size bag. Check out the pattern on my website... And, speaking of fabric: my website now has the Lake Superior collection (along with Mother’s Valentines). If you haven’t seen the nature prints, please check them out. They were inspired by photos I took along the North Shore of Lake Superior where I like to spend vacations. If you’re a landscape quilter, you’ll find the prints to be very useful to your water, rocks, leaves, and birchbark prints stash. Next year, watch for more collections from Marcus Brothers Textiles with my name along the selvage: Whole Foods (vegetables and fruits), Nature’s Lace (snow scene and snowflakes) and Let’s Ride (snowboard prints). www.marymulari.com.
