I posted this on another board but I thougth I would post it here to.
I don't have time to post and entire trip report but here is about 10 minutes from our trip. I was in the lead canoe with my sister in law, (first time BW tripping 2 time wilderness camping) and we were making the right left right turns of hog creek. She was new to paddling so I was working hard on steering. We just came around another 350* turn and I was watching the bank next to me to make sure we would clear it when my sister in law stated to scream. I looked up and not more than 20 feet in front of us was a huge cow moose and her calf. I could tell she was wise and old and that this was not her first calf. The cow was blocking the entire stream with her body and the calf was right in front of her. Two more strokes from me and we would have hit them lol. Any way, Julia screamed and the cow jumped to the right and the calf to the left. I began back paddling because we were now between them. The cow began making all kinds of scary noises but then I got us backed up to a safe place. I called to the canoe behind us and told them to hurry up to see it. Before they got there the calf had crossed the stream and was joined with its momma. I finally wiped out my camera but it was to late, the happy pair were heading into the woods.

Sorry to hear about the camera. We all wish it would have worked. Maybe a partner has enough to share for your memories.
