Depends on the wind, it is possible, if you don't have strong winds out of the sw. You could get a shuttle to Stanton Bay and cut-off much of the distance. Check here if interested, he was very helpful to us and very reasonable in price. Doug Chapman or doug@ontariooutfitters.com

I agree with GSP about the wind and Stanton Bay option. Also, Nym Lake is a much closer entry point to consider, if you don't have your permit reserved yet. You could either paddle through Batchewaung Bay and into the narrows, or there is a portage from Batchewaung into the Narrows which I have never tried. I generally prefer taking paddling the extra distance to portaging, though. Have a great trip!

Thanks, Ive been to quetico a few times and my first real trip here was last year. AMAZING I have done Algonquin and Kilarney parks before, but Quetico is a much better experiance.

I echo the comments about Stanton Bay entry. Last year we went in at SB and came out at French. If I remember right the paddle to French is 10 miles past the SB entry.
On the other hand, the paddle out to French was nice. We went with the current and saw some nice scenery. We stopped off at what is left of the pines. It's a nice paddle, but we had an extra day to play with so we were able to take our time.

I agree w/all of the above re: Stanton Bay & ALSO re: Doug Chapman. Fine fellow, dependable, & quite reasonable. IF you DO go in that route AND you're a fisherman, DON'T overlook Stanton Bay as a place to fish! Jimbo
