One of my favorite shots I have of the Q. Not that it is such a great shot but the memory behind this one is why I have a 14 x 31 blow up of it on my wall here in the Q room. The story goes as this. We had only been on the water 10 minutes. Heading north no doubt from the picture on this calm lake in mid Quetico. Just around the point to the right side we met a canoe with 3 guys in it. By then the approaching storm was vivid with lightning and the wind was picking up. The guy in the stern was paddling fast as they were trying to out run this storm. The funny thing was the stern guy had a huge fish hooked on his pole, but was so busy paddling they just drug it along. The guy was yelling to the others FISH BIG FISH, They just said don't stop paddling. Being concerned as my partner and I were we started looking for shelter. Although not as panicked as the other canoe. We were laughing while looking. We took refuge on an island and sat thru the most exciting lightning storm I ever recall seeing in the Quetico. After 45 min the storm had passed and we paddled on. Another exciting Q Adventure was noted in my mind. Only to share with others who care. Any guesses as to which lake this event took place on? This lake was named after a person in 1909. He lived in Thunder Bay area. He worked as a Crown Lands Agent.
