Within our family's we share the trust of God in our lives. The way I see it without him we wouldn't have the wilderness we all love and share together. In todays world of busy times it to me seems the Churches work hard to make sure that families share together by being united in events such as a canoe trip into the woods. For our church we do a river paddle each year in our area. The kids love it, BUT I can tell you the adults enjoy it even more. The rewards of something as simple as a smile on a child's face will be that moment of reward you'll think of for a life time to come. It is my belief that there is only one thing more powerful than Prayer and that is the loving God we all share. qp

I've led many trips with church groups and youth groups. I've always used the northern entry points of the Quetico (Beaverhouse, Nym & French Lakes) and one time went in Lerome, but probably won't do that one again. We did Stanton Bay once, before it was restricted to Canadians or Canadian Outfitters. There's something about sharing solitude that can bring up the big questions. Maybe because of the lack of the distractions that we all have back home. we've seen many life-changing decisions occur under moonlit nights and breaking mornings when the water is smooth and the loons are giving their mournful cries. God has truly created a unique and special place in the Q that is unlike anyplace else.

I have not lead any Church Groups yet, but am active with our youth group & plan on putting a canoe trip together, probably not the BWCA or Q as the group size is a problem.
Many moons ago, when I was a youth we did some canoe trips down the Kickapoo River in Wisconsin. I am looking at doing something simular up here, but on the Mississippi, Pine, or Gull Rivers.

WW You just might get more support then you think So I take it you may be interested in helping with a trip like that Dave? ;D
I know we have several regular paddlers at the church. It is something that I would like to put together for next summer.

Ya you betcha I think it would be a fantastic thing for both the kids and the adults. We do have quite a few that probably have never done something like that. [glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300] [/glow][/glow] It could be kept real simple especially for the first one and with all of the experianced paddlers and campers you just might start a tradition Davey Crocket at the helm
