I choose to build the strongback that is illustrated in the Canoecraft book. It looked like a good design that wouldn't be too difficult to make. This strongback should serve me well whichever design I end up building. Two sheets of 3/4" plywood cut up & ready to assembleTwo sections with gables in place.Woods Walker

Moved it into place where it will remain until canoe is completed. Then leveled everything out with adujstable feet. All ready with top intalled.
From cutting the pieces to finished & ready for forms took me 4 hours....But..... I cut the 4x8 sheets at work on a panel saw & then the other pieces I did on a programmable crosscut saw. From full sheets to precut pieces took me about 20 minutes. So I would have to add quite a bit of time if I were cutting them at home on the table saw. Access to professional equipment is an advantage.Woods Walker

Looks like a good start. Better pace yourself though, its not even winter yet. At this rate you might have to build two canoes to make it through the winter. ;D Looking forward to following your progress.

LOL....Actually thats the plan, that is if I can afford it, I would like to do a solo & then a tandem. My canoe trips are pretty much done for the year. There is a possabiltiy of an Oct. trip, but for right now I'm bored.Woods Walker

I will probably still park my truck in the shop, plenty of room.
Or.... I could just park in this one next to the wifes car & the boat.
Yes, I am Blessed ;DWoods Walker
