Dehydrated Tomato Sause? For real? Can one also really, really, really, Dehydrate Salsa? I thought DD was talking out of his..well... keester back on the ol' QJ board! Maybe I was wrong! Looks like this Vac 1050 is worth it's spendy little tag. I just might invest my batchelor Christmas gift certificates that way. Then I can de-core my TP and make it solid as Q rock. Great Ideas! What fun! Merry Christmas! Sitt'n by the fire on Christmas Morn, warmin your toes with new wool socks (I prefer the traditional gray) Dream'n' of next years adventures. Wishin I could have made that Dog Sled...( who knows, maybe I still can), saving my cash for better days. Man I need a hike or something... I just gotta get out doors again. k

Dehydrated Tomato Sause? For real? Can one also really, really, really, Dehydrate Salsa? k Hey K, There is a neat book call Trail Food published by Ragged Mountain Press that can send you to drying nirvena. It covers dry times and temperture settings from apples to zucchini, plus a fair amount of recipes including one for salsa. It would make a great stocking stuffer for yourself. GG

Yeah, k...salsa can be dehydrated. Reconstitutes easily too. I always measure out how much volume of salsa I am drying so I know how much water to add to rehydrate it.
I dry it to a leather consistency then peel it off, break it up and dry it some more to a brittle consistency.

Is That what I have been doing wrong all these years??? I didn't know to dry it after you break it up!! After you dry it again do you powderize it so it reconstitutes easer? To reconstitute it do you boil it or just add water and wait?
*here is a tip.. to break it up put the leather piece in the freezer first.

In a One Horse Radish Sleigh.
Can Horse Radish be dehydarted too? I've always picked up the small packs from Hardies.
All I want for Christmas is a new pair of boots, a new pair of boots.
All I want for Christmas is a new pair of boots, a new pair of boots.
Leather? Dehydrated Salsa looks like leather? Reconsitute? What's all that nonsense about. I'm a newbie to the dehydrating scene, but lov'n it.
Christmas wish list additions... Book recomended above by GG...Thanks.

Usually I know exactly what I need, exactly where it is in the store, I go get it and I'm outta there. According to the guys at the gas station - that means I'm half way to being the perfect woman (since I don't watch Monday Night Football). Today I fought the crowds for 7 hours trying to get it all done in one day - impossible!! So tomorrow I trudge out again - and this time - by gosh - I will be done!!! Doggone teenagers - you would think that after this many years they would know how to give good lists. Mrs. QP
