Well I finished counting trips and came up with about 17 longer trips I can put my memory on, before 1997. So that does make 50 trips so far. My first trips were when I was about 10, and my first long distance trip when I was 13, all with my Dad. I haven't counted any day trips, I am spoiled...a day trip for me is paddling across the lake to get to my car to go to work. One of my favorite trips was the Voyageur Route from Grand Portage to Ely which I took with Jack, a few years before 1997. We skipped the long portage, but started at the first lake on the Route. I don't think I kept a journal, unfortunately. Took about 10 days if I remember correctly. IC

I have taken about 10 trips into Quetico and the BWCA. I really don't differentiate between the two. Both areas are about 1000 miles from me, so what does a couple extra miles make.........
I do like the convienence of a "lew" and the firegrate in the BWCA, but the lack of people in Quetico is also HIGH on my list.
Later,
Geo

It amazing about one's memory gets better when you log trips on a spread sheet. 23 overnight outings (mostly long weekends), 97 nights, 660 total miles, 614 water, 47 land, ie: 15,067 rods, over the past 30 years. Dan

2 in the BW. Real rookie! Fell in love with the area before I ever arrived due to my mentor and his history of some thirty years in BW. I would due many more but it is SOOOOOOO far from KY. I hope to become at least a once a year BW paddler.

I'm another rookie. Have done two trips with my wife and a group solo trip. If I'm lucky I might double that number this year! ;D
